Plicata Press welcomes readers, writers and browsers to our world of books. We're a small but growing regional press, with members experienced in writing and publishing. We're interested in literature that contributes to our culture and humanity whether delivered as fiction, nonfiction or poetry. We like novels where setting is a strong character, whether its an actual or invented place. We like memoir that inspires, humor that's universal and poetry that touches our emotions.
Our first published works include a political thriller set in our nations capital; women's fiction that moves from Montana to Boston and the Cape, and back again; poetry with ties to Ireland and Puget Sound; and a Seattle woman's adventures in the South Pacific Kingdom of Tonga. All are unique. All center on strong relationships.
We released the third edition of a textbook for incarcerated parents who are willing to work on building and maintaining relationships with their children albeit from a distance. We have historical fiction, young adult fiction, mystery, humor and memoir under consideration.
Our name comes from Thuja plicata, the Western redcedar that grows along the Pacific coast from southern Alaska to northern California, and reaches into the Cascade Range and west slopes of the Rocky Mountains. We're interested in working with writers who live in or adjacent to those areas. We are a cooperative press. See our Contact page for more information about submissions.
